Eat Local Challenge- Frederick
October 2008

Please join the Frederick Eat Local Challenge group for this year's challenge.  Whether
you are new to the Challenge or have been eating locally for years, you set your own
rules. Is your goal to eat 100% locally or make your first visit to one of Frederick County's
many farmer's markets? It is up to you. No matter how big or how small your goals may
seem, every effort to keep our food dollars in the hands of local farmers helps our local
economy, the environment, and the health of our families. Print out an

Together with the Friends of Frederick County, Eat
Local Frederick is hosting a 100-Mile Feast. The
theme, “Shake the Hand that Feeds You,” gets to the
heart of eating locally. Food is grown and raised by
real families living in our community. It is time that we
meet and thank them for nourishing us! We also want
to raise awareness of the some of the environmental,

100-Mile Potluck Feast: “Shake the Hand that Feeds You”
TBA
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Community Room
1415 West 7th Street, Frederick
Frederick County. Plus, we want to bring together resources for local eating and
promoting sustainable agriculture in our hometowns. This will be a great chance to
meet other
“locavores” in the area, eat some wonderful food, and develop a community
of like-minded folks.

Bring a dish to pass made from locally grown ingredients with an index card letting us
know where you got the ingredients. (Don't worry, the dishes don't have to be 100%
local.) Bring your own re-usable dishes and flatware. You provide the mugs and we'll
make the coffee, tea (fair-trade, organic) and local apple cider.

If you are interested in participating in the Eat Local Frederick Potluck Feast, please
contact Sarah Irani at (301) 682-5373 or send an e-mail to info@eatlocalfrederick.com.
